At Gorge Performance we know the importance of being good stewards of the planet. From the oceans we surf to the mountains we shred, the earth is hurting and we want to do more than our part to heal it. 

As a small business in the global retail space, this is no easy task. We are constantly looking for ways to reduce, reuse and recycle in all aspects of our business.

Reusing Cardboard Boxes

Reusing card board boxes was a no brainer and quick way for Gorge Performance to decrease our impact on the forrest. More than 95% of the 1000+ orders we ship are packaged in a box that is was perviously shipped to us. That means when you order from Gorge Performance, you are likely to get an ugly box, and we are ok with that. 

Reusing Packing Supplies

In the 35 year history of Gorge Performance, we have never purchased packing materials. We retain a large supply of the materials needed to carefully wrap outgoing packages from shipments sent to the shop on a weekly basis. If there are packing materials in your package, they have been give a second life. It is your turn to give them a third. 

Recycling Shipping Materials

If we cant repurpose the materials used to fill our shop with boards and supplies, we recycle them. On any given day you will find a trailer full of over sized cardboard or plastic ready for a trip to the recycler. It takes a huge effort to keep things out of the landfill and we think it is worth it. 

Consignments & Repairs

Getting an under-used surfboard out of one human's quiver and into the hands of a new rider, keeps old equipment from ending up in a land fill and slows the mass production of new equipment. Providing an opportunity for surfers to off load old gear or acquire new-to-you gear is the bonus. We keep our consignment costs at a minimum because used equipment that is good for you is also good for the earth. 

Free Packing to Customers

With the exception of local shapers, most surfboards on the racks at Gorge Performance arrived here in well packed boxes. That means if you need extra packing materials for that next trip to Indo, an upcoming move or just shipping that board to your nephew, we can help. When we give it to you, it gets a new life and your board stays safe as it travels.
